 Lawrence Musaba

Lawrence holds the following academic qualifications:
PhD, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK, 1996
M.Sc, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK, 1991
B.Eng, [Distinction], University of Zambia, 1989.
Dr. Musaba worked for the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) as Senior Electrical Engineer. After his PhD, he joined Midlands Power International (Birmingham, UK) as Project Development Manager in 1996 to 1998. From June 1998 to June 2000, he worked for the University of Zambia as Lecturer and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
From June 2000, he joined the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) and was appointed SAPP Coordination Centre Manager. Dr Musaba is the Coordinator and Director of the 12 national power utilities of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and is based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Dr. Musaba has conceptualised and developed the SAPP short-term energy market (STEM) that was launched by SADC in April 2001. He has now completed the development of a competitive electricity market for the SADC region. The market is expected to be launched in April 2008. In 2007, he was awarded the AFRIGLOBE African Power Resources Achiever of the Year.
Dr. Musaba is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and is a Member of both the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) of the UK and the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) of USA. He is also a Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia and a Registered Engineer.
