Medicine and The University of Zambia School of medicine.
He was Senior Laboratory Technologist (Lab supervisor) at the University of
Alabama (UAB), NIH funded project with a field site in Lusaka, Zambia from 1996 to 1999. Through
provision of confidential HIV counseling and testing services, the project
recruited a cohort of HIV-discordant married couples for a prospective study of
the incidence and predictors of heterosexual transmission of HIV.
He began his medical career as a trainee medical laboratory technician at Kitwe Central Hospital, Kitwe, Zambia in January 1995.

Some recent applications of interest are healthcare systems design, power generation adequacy planning, stochastic facility and resource location/allocation, supply chain inventory planning with private information, modeling & simulation for wildfire spread and containment, and emergency response for wildfire containment under uncertainty.
He is the recipient of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department Outstanding Professor Award by Alpha Pi Mu Student Chapter Society, April 28, 2007.

Two years later he was appointed Foreign Visiting Professor, Immunology until 2003, when he relocated to the USA to take up a Type 1 Diabetes research appointment in the Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine, Medical College of Georgia (MCG). He is currently an MCG immunologist in the Immunotherapy Center.
His research interest includes Infectious parasites, Infectious and autoimmune disease Immunology, cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying immunological phenomena; regulation of T cell activation by antigen-presenting cells; regulation of immune function by indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) in chronic infectious diseases (Leishmaniasis), inflammation and transplantation biology.
He got his full time appointment in December 2006. His research work has been published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immununology among others.

Ngozi Mwanamwambwa Asinga is the first Principia College graduate ever to be inducted in to the United States Track & Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Hall of Fame. Asinga, who graduated from Principia in 1993, was one of five athletes inducted May 24, 2006 at the site of the NCAA III Outdoor Championship in Lisle, Illinois.
During her collegiate career, Asinga won seven All-American awards in Track and Field – for finishing first, second, or third nationally in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. She was the champion in the 200m run at the NCAA championship in 1992, and runner-up in both the 100m and 400m.
She went on to represent Zambia in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and had the honor of carrying the Zambian flag during the opening ceremonies. Asinga also competed for Zambia at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta in the 200m.

Dr. Njapau is currently part of a team of scientists at the U.S. Food and Drug Adminstration's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition who, in conjunction with the Agency's field staff, are entrusted with promoting and protecting the public's health by ensuring that the nation's food supply is safe, sanitory and wholesome. He focuses on naturally occurring toxins including mycotoxins and protein-based toxins.
In Zambia, he worked for the National Council for Scientific Research where he led a team that established the sole National Mycotoxins Laboratory and determined the incidence of aflatoxin contamination of maize and demonstrated the feasibility of indigenous food processing technologies to decrease levels of the foodborne poisons called aflatoxins in contaminated maize and groundnuts.
A mutlidisplainary scientist, he worked on enhancing sugarcane growth rates, increasing raw sugar yield and enhancing the efficiency of raw sugar mills while at the Audobon Sugar Institute, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, prior to joining the FDA.
He is an internationally recognized expert whose accomplishments include resolving the acute aflatoxicosis outbreak in Eastern Kenya. He has written a lot about mycotoxin contamination of foods. A recent book has edited, Mycotoxins and Phycotoxins, focuses on advances in determination, toxicology, and exposure management of these food contamiants.

Before coming to Shaw University, Dr. Mundia worked with FOOD for the POOR, Inc., an International Interdenominational Agency that seeks to alleviate the plight of the poor in Third World Countries—especially in the Caribbean Islands. He recently served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on two projects sponsored by The Agency for Healthcare Quality Research and housed in the Institute for Health, Social, and Community Research at Shaw University. A manuscript from one of these studies, “Comparing United States vs. International Medical School Graduate Physicians Who Serve African American and White Elderly,” was published January 26, 2007 in the journal, Health Services Research. Another manuscript based on the impact of workforce transitions on the disruption of longitudinal physician-patient relationships (March 20, 2006) was submitted to the journal Medical Care Research and Review.
