Gertrude has joined UNEP/ Regional Office for Africa, as the Regional Policy and Programme Coordinator. She will be working closely with the various divisions and UNEP entities for the delivery of the Programme of Work in Africa.

She has over 20 years work experience in the Africa Region in the delivery of programmes, programme management and coordination, monitoring and evaluation, research, technical analysis and advisory, policy formulation and advocacy. Her extensive career experience includes working as Senior Projects Officer for the Development Bank of Zambia from 1982 to 1992 where she worked on Agricultural and Rural development Projects and doing the Environmental and Social impact Assessments for the Bank.

From 1992 to 1998 she was a freelance consultant for various NGOs, Multilateral and Bilateral Agencies, as well as for a number of Local Authorities and as advisor / Consultant specifically for the cities of Lusaka (Zambia), Lilongwe (Malawi), and Harare (Zimbabwe) on Urban Poverty Reduction, Governance and Environmental Management and gender mainstreaming. She was also on a long term consultancy with the FAO / ALCOM programme in the Regional Office for Southern Africa as a socio – Economist, credit Manager – women’s Finance Trust Co. of Zambia and as Programme Economist for the Poverty Alleviation Project for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, in Zambia.

In Harare, Zimbabwe, she was Regional Coordinator for the Regional Information Centre on Local Government (Southern Africa) from 1998 to 2003. before moving to Johannesburg, South Africa where she became the Regional Director – (Africa Secretariat) The International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI- Africa). A position she held from 2003 to 2005.

She then moved to Mwanza in Tanzania where she took the position of Team Leader (Portfolio Coordinator) Lake Zone Portfolio Team SNV in 2005 to 2008. Then in 2008, she accepted the position of Technical Advisor – Development Cooperation, at the SADC Secretariat, Gaborone, Botswana. She has held public positions on global, international and regional steering and advisory committees as well as task forces. She is also guest lecturer and speaker at various forums and universities. Her interests include Community Service, Reading and Writing.

Victor holds the following academic qualifications:
MS, Boston University, USA, 1995
BA, University of Zambia, 1991

Victor has taught Mass Communication at the University of Zambia and has been a Consultant in Communication strategy development for various local and international organizations. He joined UNICEF in 1998 as a Programme Officer for Social Mobilization and Behavior Change and in 2002 moved to the regional office in Nairobi where he oversees UNICEF's Communication and external relations programmes in 20 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa. He has widely travelled, has also worked in New York, Malawi and Madagascar on short-term attachment with UNICEF. He is currently finishing his MBA in Global Management with the University of Phoenix.

Musonda has the following academic qualifications:

B.Sc. Ed, University of Zambia, 1995.

Dr. Mumba's passion with wetlands goes way back to her childhood, growing up in the Luapula Valley in Mansa, she was fascinated with the swamps and Lakes in the Luapula area. She has turned that fascination into a career.

After living and working in UK at the WWF-UK, Panda House, she moved from London in February 2007, to live and work in Kenya. As the Freshwater Programme Coordinator for WWF Eastern Africa Regional Programme Office, she is in charge of the managing and coordinating projects spread across 11 countries.
