Dr Mwansa, Director of Education SSW in Botswana is the first international scholar appointed by the
Katherine Kendall Institute, Council on Social Work Education.
As the first president of the African Scholars of Social Work, he will focus his work in the U.S. on developing the
African Association. By opening the workings of CSWE, including the educational policy commission and then global
commission he will offer means by which the African Association might develop.
He will also be a University Scholar at the University of Kentucky where he is keynote speaker for the University's
College of Social Work’s weekly event. Social Work in the Global Community: Peace, Justice and Reconciliation. He
will appear at the City of Lexington’s Human Rights College of Social Work annual reconciliation breakfast. He will also be
a visiting scholar at the University of Connecticut, Cape Western Research University and Howard University. An extended
period in Alexandria, VA, Dr. Mwansa will make his temporary USA home at Howard University

 Ned Silavwe
| Title:Senior Lecturer Department of Chemistry

Dr. Silavwe's research interests are in the area of synthetic inorganic chemistry. He is focused
on the design and development of ligands that have the potential of forming metal complexes with interesting structural,
magnetic, optical, electrochemical and electrical properties. The structures of the ligands are to be engineered
in such a way that the resulting complexes will be endowed with the desired properties. His on-going research activities are:
(1) Synthesis and study of metal complexes of 1,3-hydroxydithiocarboxylate (1,3-HDTC-) ligands, and

Musonda Trevor Selwyn Mwamba, PhD

Bishop Mwamba has the follwing academic qualifications:
PhD, Keble College, Oxford, U.K., 1999
M.A, Social Anthropology Keble College, Oxford, U.K.
B.Th, Oxford university, U.K.
LLB, University of Zambia.
Bishop Mwamba trained for the priesthood at Saint Stephen’s House, Oxford, and was ordained in 1984 at Saint
Luke’s Chelsea in London and served his curacy in the Parish of All Saints, Notting Hill before
returning to Zambia where he was priested in Ndola in 1985. As Rector of Luanshya, he also assumed the responsibilities of Vocational Director for the Diocese of Central
Zambia.
In 1987 he was appointed Provincial Secretary of the Church of the Province of
Central Africa (The Anglican Church in Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe).
He was created the first Provincial Canon of the
Province by Episcopal Synod in 1991. He also served as his personal assistant and
Legal advisor to the then Archbishop of Central Africa, Dr. Khotso W. P. Makhulu.
In 1999, he became a non-stipendiary Priest and worked for five years as a banker as Head of Legal and Compliance, Corporate Affairs and Company
Secretary at Standard Chartered Bank Botswana Limited. He was appointed Vicar General of the
diocese of Botswana in 2002 and consecrated Bishop of Botswana on February 6, 2005.
He has sat and continues to sit on numerous boards such as Transparency
International (Botswana), and the Botswana Human Rights Centre (Ditshwanelo).
He has also drafted constitutions for the Botswana Council of Churches and Young
Women’s Christian Fellowship.
He has lectured as a visiting Professor at the University of Ohio.
His character is captured in Alexander McCall Smith’s best seller series “The Full
Cupboard of Life” and “In the Company of Cheerful Ladies”. He is married to Mmasekgoa and

Bridget who has 20 years working experience specializes in trade policy formulation and implementation,
trade negotiations, international trade issues, regional integration and, export development and promotion.
Prior to this assignment, she was at the Commonwealth Secretariat, in London, UK where she designed and managed
the Commonwealth Secretariat's flagship project on trade capacity building (Hub and Spokes Project under Trade.com)
worth 20 million Euros. She also served as Zambia's chief negotiator from 1994 to 1998.

"About 40 patients are anxiously waiting their turn to see Dr.Mwantembe, the only doctor working at the IDCC on this particular morning.
Dr. Mwantembe, a Zambian national,has been practicing medicine for over three years at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Kanye. In August of 2003, he received specialized training in HIV/AIDS care and ARV therapy through KITSO’s AIDS Clinical Care Fundamental course. During the training, he received indepth theoretical lectures in HIV/AIDS care and ARV therapy. Dr. Mwantembe also spent a month completing practical attachment at the adult and pediatric IDCC at Princess Marina Hospital. Since this training, he also receives additional support through the KITSO Preceptorship Program.
